Match 15 : Gayle's double scripts big win for West Indies v Zimbabwe.
If there's a cricket record that highlights power, not patience, of a batsman ~ Chris Gayle has to be in it. and it was just a matter of time before he entered the elite list of highest ODI scores. Today, Gayle entertained Canberra crowd to something special, scoring only the 5th double ton in one day format, destroying Zimbabwe attack to all parts of Manuka Oval and rejuvenating Windies hopes in this World cup 2015..

It was an understandable decision from Zimbabweans to invite the Caribbean team in to bat once coin toss fell in their favor and even the first wicket (Dwayne Smith) came their way off second ball of the match but then onwards, Chris Gayle got down to the job of rebuilding the inning with Marlon Samuels. Samuels stayed patient throughout, rotating the strike at his usual casual self while Gayle too took his time from other end, completing his 50 off 51 balls and 100 from 105 balls before breaking free, tonking next 50 runs in next 19 balls and completing 200 from 138 balls which also is now new fastest ODI double century.

Gayle and Samuels collaborated for all of 372 runs of the total which now also the highest ODI partnership. Gayle's 215 also broke the record highest score in World cups. He also hit 16 sixes in his knock, joining hands with AB de Villiers and Rohit Sharma.

Zimbabwe were never really in hunt of their over-ambitious target, although they put forward a good batting display with Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams and Craig Ervine showcasing their talent.
