4th ODI : Rohit Sharma scores second double century in one day cricket.
Sitting in our comfortable chairs, it seems impossible to climb the Everest, doesn't it? but if someone indeed goes all the way up, he naturally garners the courage the do it all over again..

Rohit Sharma, one of only three batsmen to score double century in ODIs till date, and the youngest, had had a frustrating couple of months healing finger injury while competition got tougher to join the national team ahead of the World cup. Now given a chance today against the Sri Lankans, Rohit decided to climb the Everest all over again, ensure selectors think thrice before taking opening slot away from him, breaking the record of highest ODI score while becoming first batsman to make two double century in the format.

The Mumbaikar was ultra careful to start off, completing his first 50 runs off 72 balls before turning it into run a ball century. Rohit's next fifty came off only 25 balls while 26 balls more to complete the double. He was hitting sixes at will against a demotivated Sri Lankan attack, entertaining Eden Gardens ground to the maximum.

The most heartening aspect of Rohit's knock was that he made 147 runs to the off side in a generation when batsmen look to slog to the leg side.

Rohit made sure he batted all fifty overs, breaking all time record. He was last man out off the last ball of the inning.

He also hit 33 fours in his knock, the most by any batsman in an inning, breaking 25 that Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag had hit in their double centuries.

Sri Lankans had no chase against their mountainous chase of 405. Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne scored half centuries but huge defeat was already written on the wall.
