Abdul Qadir, probably the best leg spinner ever produced by Pakistan, was on top of his game in late 1980s when England came on tour. At Gaddafi stadium in Lahore, captain Mike Gatting elected to bat first but right from first wicket of opener Graham Gooch, Qadir started to spell his magic over English batters. 1 wkt for 22 to 8 wkts for 94, Englishmen were saved by tailenders to give them some sort of score of 175 allout before the end of play on day 1.
Pakistan made handsome 392 in their first innings, thanks to century from Mudassar Nazar and 217 run lead was enough for home team to win the game by an innings and 87 runs as Qadir took 4 more wickets. Abdul dismissed Graham Gooch, Chris Broad, Tim Robinson (twice), Mike Gatting (twice), Bill Athley, Philip DeFreitas, Bruce French, David Chapel, John Emburey, Neil Foster and Nick Cook in the match.
Qadir rook 9 wickets in second innings which is the best by any bowler in an England vs Pakistan test match innings, for just 56 runs from 37 overs.

Underwood took 5 wickets for 20 runs in first innings to bowl out visitors for 130 runs and England took respectable 140 run lead but Pakistan managed to reach 226 in their second innings despite another 8 wickets for Underwood.
