In terms of balls, faced, Sachin Tendulkar consumed 436 balls for his 241 not out at Sydney back in January 2004. This innings of his is famous because he refused to drive out side off stump which was his downfall in previous 3 tests. Next most balls faced, 379 against Bangladesh, fetched him his highest test scoe of 248 not out.
